the whisperer in darkness was phenomenal. absolutely stellar story with all its wonderful weirdness and well layered mystery and intrigue. just a masterclass in writing, honestly. the ending had so much impact on me and i sat there shocked for a while.

the whisperer is darkness im almost done with now. i think its wonderful. lots of links to the general mythos of lovecraft, and seems to go on for far longer than i expected. but i enjoy it a lot.

"The poor woman screamed about things in the air which she could not describe. In her ravings there was not single specific noun, but only verbs and pronouns. Things moved and changed and fluttered, and ears tingled to impulses which were not wholly sounds. Something was taken away - she was being drained of something - something fastening itself on her that ought not to be."

"The color, which resembled some of the bands in the meteor's strange spectrum, was almost impossible to describe; and it was only by analogy that they called it color at all. It's texture was glossy, and upon tapping it appeared to promise both brittleness and hollowness."

Also I got this book because I was researching imaginary/impossible colours and came across a Wikipedia list of imaginary colours in media, one mentioned was Discworld with Octarine, and another was this one.
