I just read the PC section and I think James is wrong that a prediction of the removal of the words "men, women, girls, and boys" would have no affect on society.
It would.
It's a threat best explored in 1984 where newspeak reduces the amount of free-thought available to individuals.
Other than that point it has been entertaining to read.

Chapter 6 complete
There's an important argument against the sugar tax, but of course this chapter only goes for the easy arguments

Amazing read. O’Brien perfectly and eloquently dismantles people’s often bigoted viewpoints not with condescending language, but with logic. Highly recommend

Chapter 6 was actually very interesting - nothing I didn’t know already from IB econ and common sense but was still interesting to read.

Alright - I could probably condense it down into an article, I don't think it needs to be a book to be honest

Starting I’m enjoying the written out conversation between the writer and another gentleman about laws and their feeling on Islamic culture(?) it’s really interesting hearing two other peoples views and their openness to admit parts that scare them and acknowledging a law in the country telling woman what they can and cannot wear would not work

I’m enjoying this so far, having recently discovered James’ LBC show. James uses previous interviews from his show to illustrate how people can be confident of bigoted opinions that are being fed to them by the media they are consuming, without actually being able to provide any proof of having thought it through for themselves.

“when people like him demand that their right to free speech be respected, what they are really demanding is that their speech be free from scrutiny”

OMG! I really like this book. I just finished the chapter on Islam and Islamism and although it is sad to read how some people think (even though I already know they exist), it definitely gave me a new perspective on how to approach these kinds of people. I hope to act a bit like James in the future :).
Can’t wait to read the next chapter on Brexit!
