“It appears then that the essence of chess is its abstract structure. (…) Geometry is no more a study of flat surfaces and dots than chess is a military exercise. “
This is the first book about pure mathematics that I’m reading and is already making me giggle and twirl my hair.

The concept of the genus of a graph is rather interesting, I'd like to have the sufficient knowledge to understand it on a deeper level some day.

So far a very good and easy to follow introduction to the world of graph from the standpoint of pure mathematics.

Decided to restart reading this book as I tend to forget concepts after leaving finishing a book for a long time.

Extremely interesting/stimulating so far. For apparent reasons, progress is slower than on a "normal" 'book.

I'm surprised that a book on graph theory published in 1976 has me cracking up.

Taking about pure mathematics isn't enough. To really understand what it is, you have to do it. That's why this book has seven more chapters.

A really well written introduction to subjects on graph theory I was never introduced to because going to school for engineering as opposed to computer science. They manage to convey tricky abstract concepts in a very short concise book.

Clear, elementary intro to the subject. Trudeau's enthusiasm really adds to the experience. :-)

very insightful to read. "This attitude of self-sufficiency is the hallmark of pure mathematics."

Simple enough for high school students. Exercises can be a fun challenge.
