I'm so close to dropping this book. It's an impulse-read, but there's hardly any pay off to my decision lol

The characters don't have a personality. The premise is interesting, but the execution is off. Given the high ratings that this book gets, I assume that what matters to most of the fans of this book (and series) are the racy scenes that are just as poorly written as the characters.

Two chapters in and the story is, I don't know... weird? Reiss misuses the word "notwithstanding" in the first paragraph of the story, and a lot of sentences are either incomplete or awkwardly written. Also, the story itself is awkward—things move too quickly, and Reiss gives readers almost no time to fully digest anything that transpires.

So far not a page turner for me… I’ve actually paused reading and picked up another read in the meantime.
