Status Updates From City of Shards (Spellgiver #1)

I like it a lot.

The beginning was slow, but once the wheels start turning it's clever and fun.

Considering putting other SPFBO books on hold so I can read the sequel.

Chapter 12 has blood-clowns.

BLOOD-CLOWNS.

Eight chapters in, we get our first change of POV... and it’s very reminiscent of Tharok, from Phil Tucker’s “Chronicles of the Black Gate” series.

Then another new POV for chapter IX, then back to Larin again.

This has the makings of a long, doorstopper-length series, but it’s relatively short (as far as fantasy goes) and will only be a trilogy by story’s end. Interesting...

Heavy, heavy world-building and a pretty neat set of mysteries to kick things off. Lots of interesting info, thought not much has actually happened yet, but it’s starting to turn a corner. Enjoyable thus far!

And my #SPFBO4 book journey begins with a promising start!
