I’m not finding this an easy read, in that it is meandering.
Quoting from The Lonely City “an investigation of what it means to be alone, Olivia Laing writes “You can be lonely anywhere, but there is a particular flavour to the loneliness that comes from living in a city””.

This book is animated by different ideas: that the dead do not vanish completely, that we aren’t obliged to embroider the past or sex it up to make it pertinent to our world, and that great writers and thinkers speak in eternity.
