Status Updates From The Temple of the Mad God (...

Having a blast reading this again. I know some people didn't like the many, many branching stories in this one, but I personally love each and every one of them! Getting close to a final read of Deathsworn Arc 6: Emergence now!

I can see what people mean about this book. It kinds of feels like reading several novels at once. The stories though intertwined, are kind of distant? Just read the section where Vexis and Roth run into Fox again and eventually find Ron. I really like that bit. It reads harsh and gritty and you really feel for Fox. I have big plans for Fox in 6 though, she's on a journey even more epic than the companions I think.

I've stormed through this book. Every book in this series gets more engrossing than the last. I can see what people mean about the A plot regarding Votrex's Holt. More so than the side-stories, it feels fresh, new and surprising. I really feel the blend of science and magic works here too. I've already started book 6, but there are many things to tie up! I need to start making the story simpler before it explodes!

What a grim, but great start. I'm really pleased with the opening scenes of this. I think it takes the series up a level. So far, Lindie and Kaya have left Trest, The companions have fought the gate guardian and Fox has ran away from Berman's Rock after a run in with Sid and Wilf.

Been procrastinating with finishing this book and writing a review for it for like... 3 days. Uhh I need to do something about this >.>

80% in and i still have no clue as to why the main characters are in that holt thing. :/ And noooo simply saying Votrex wants to go home isn't enough. Why are the others there with him? Is there something they want to achieve :?

I think by the time I finish this novel I would have skim read half of it because of the lindie, Kaya and Fox plot threads that add nothing new to the plot.
These are basic filler chapters in a book that does not need filler. And because it has so much filler the companions'plot advances at a snail's pace.

I think that the magic in dsa world is infinite & needs to be harnessed. Magic like stormlight and metal burning are readily availeble but limited as opposed to magic here. If thats true then are some races more prone than others?

Soooo why do they need this Stonecutter wemch to help them enter the Holt? -.- And furthermore why ARE they entering it if there's something down there?! Fuck my family home Ill leave at the first sign of trouble if the chance occurs. :/ Think The Mines of Moria. Probably everyone's fucking dead by now. :\ Lol Korhan suggesting to duel that thing makes the others concious of his one on one dueling track record! XD

I can't stress this enough:
- Vexis getting the faith curse off her is important!
- the Servants of the Flame storyline and how Olwyn became the admin of Trest city after Hern's duel is important!
- the companions defeating the rock golem with the new anti-magic concept (basic spellbreaking) that Brael introduces is important!
Following lindie and Kaya and Fox for an inordinate ammount of time is NOT important!

Saul should've been more skilled than what is presented what with say 50 years of training. Methinks it shouln't be difficult for him to use magic! The fact that Brael has to teach him magic again, implies 1 of 2 things. Either he's never learned a way to use magic efficiently until this age or he was never any good with it from the start and only got his title of emmisary because he was the Empress' bedding partner.

So we've only stayed a grand total of 2 scenes with the MCs? I think telling the reader about Trest and the spead of the plague would have been better. We dont need souch screentime dedicated to Lindie and Kaya subplot.
They are not at all consequential to the plot so why not follow an antagonist for the Trest plotline. I really don't like the fact that an innocent young man is gonna be eaten instead of those two.

I just had this scene in my mind when the Voice gave Olwyn charge of Trest town. Her dressed in a red dress, smirking wickedly and a hand on the muzzle of Hern's dragon. I drew it and now I'l refine it digitally.
I think Her's showmanship was a bit off.
I think that it would have been awesomer to have him curb-stomp his opponent, bored out of his mind skewering him through the neck as he charged. I like efficiency.

Now that is what I do call character development. Korhan considering that he may not be the great warrior he thought he was. Brael's quitness is welcoming.
Also I would like to adress this from the recap part: Why must everything in this series be resolved in a duel?! I mean really!

I still fail to see the relevance Lindie and Kaya have to the story. Yes I KNOW life is unfair you don't need to tell me about it through a character that is inconsequential to the plot. It's interesting how emotionless this scene with the corrupt berger is. At least convey a bit more dread and dispare from the two of them.
Wtf just happened? What happened with Ron! I seriously cannot understand! :|
