Not a super smooth read - but interesting to see the life of a child affected by the foster care system/ addiction and neglect

Chapter 32 felt like a blessing in disguise. The whole memoir through Ericka made me feels as if I was actually walking side by side with Rick or even looking down on him like God when he finally meets Ericka and it is instant sparks. Truly one of the best memoirs I've read in a minute.

The stories that Erika describes for the readers of Rick's Memoir are things that people haven't truly seen first hand. It's scary to already know stuff like this happens, but even worse knowing it happens at such a young age most of the time. That and the fact that usually the child grows up just as broken as the parent because that's all they've known.

Only 22 pages in and I feel like I know the Sylvia, the mother, so well almost as if I had been watching over her for the past couple of years. I'm not usually the type for religious reading, but this memoir is more than that and that is probably why I can't stop flipping the pages!
