"The reality is that pain makes it hard to use logic. It makes it hard to make plans, even plans to make things better. And pain is a lonely experience: it makes it hard to reach out."

More consistently good than most other anthologies so far.

The first story didn't particularly grab me, so I abandoned it for the next one and it was a great decision: other are definitely better.

read three stories, none of which rlly stood out to me. "About a Woman and a Kid" was fine, "Sky and Dew" was pretty good, & "The Nothing Spots" was too dark for my taste considering it didn't really have a lot to say? idk, it just felt like suffering for the sake of suffering, and i dont want to read abt that.

been kinda lukewarm on this collection as a whole so far. "Skerry-Bride", "Rhizomatic Diplomacy", and "The Pigeon Summer" have been my favorites of what i've read, and "The L7 Gene" and "Transitions" were decent as well. a lot of these stories suffer from a rushed or abrupt ending, which i guess is kind of to be expected? still frustrating though

"Her Sacred Spirit Soards"
NGL I cried a little at this one. Very poignant, cool mythology.
