Status Updates From Pimsleur French Level 1: Le...

I’m re-listening to the whole thing again after leaving it too long. There has been something useful to pick up from lesson 1 and in every lesson. Re-listening made me more aware of the small in between joining bits within a sentence, rather than just focusing on each new word presented.

I ended up skipping past the reading lessons again, second time around again. It's just easier to listen to the lesson whilst doing something like cooking dinner. Sitting down to the reading lesson feels less fun than the audio question & answers section.

I have found that completing the 30 minute lesson from start to finish, no more, no less, is important to staying consistent and not having to repeat classes.

I'm re-listening to the whole of level 1, as I stopped my french lessons for a year.

This time I'm listening to it at regular speed, and am a little more adamant to do a lesson every day, as it suggests.

It seems to be going well. I thought it might be boring starting all over again, but I've been mixing it up with a little of French 2 to keep me on my toes. I'm glad I started from the beginning again.

I was doing so well with this until this last section where it demands more of your attention with reading lessons. Now that the French 2 has been updated, I must make time for this again.

Feels like I really know some French now. Not completely fluent, but I can say a variety of things.

Some of this definitely helped when I was in France last week!

Good stuff, but this 3rd edition does things in French I've never encountered in all the previous 25 years of flirtation with it. It's supposed to reflect modern French, and I hope it does. I can usually trust Pimsleur.
