Status Updates From A NIGHT IN JAIL: A story ab...

The best part of my reading today is seeing all the time changes and the way he is doing things and understanding why he thinks he is seeing things or he has to do drugs to stay in this unreal world.

Something I predict will happen in my book A Night in Jail is, the author will slowly see her brother go through changes but never give up on him through it all and try to help him because she wants to understand his perspective.

A literary element that I found in my reading today was point of view. This was effective because it really showed the POV of his life and how drugs were and how the addiction grew and he had a stuck mindset that he couldn't get off of it.

The author is using pathos because she was telling the audience her feelings about being in the jail and how she had to take notes and she had a weird feeling so it was very sentimental and emotional for her.

The questions this book prompted me to ask is, why do they keep walking in circles? Why do they almost choose to be homeless and throw their lives away for drugs? and my last question is why would she stick around to see all of this play out?

The author had to do a lot of research because she had to deal with her brother dealing with addiction and to understand his point of view she needed to figure out why and how.

A question I would ask the author is if her brother is still in jail and how many times she gets to see him.

Im super surprised that the addicted guy was her brother and shes writing about him.

she introduced the moral of what happened and how it started.

This is an eye opening, heartbreaking story about drug addiction, which frequently results in mental illness. The story gives the reader a real sense of how addiction can ruin a person's life and hopefully will result in early intervention to prevent addiction in the first place. A must read for parents of adolescents and educators!
