They are the special ones that get invited to be killed and soul sucked. Interesting scenarios too that bring them to the house. And they always pass the black iron gate first without noticing it. Then upon turning back they see it.

Interesting novel. Sort of a rip off of Dr Sleep and Stardust but has some originality as well. Like the pictures up the staircase that show the victims and then the new victim (or guest as they call it) without eyes. That’s when you know they’ve been had. The soul sucking as the victim experiences it without pain. Interesting stuff.
