Status Updates From Reflection

In the book Mulan is trying to survive the hill of knifes with no knowledge of understanding where they are in Shang-Diyu. The long trek is walking in a long maze with demons about to catch up.
Reflection is the perfect title for this book because before Mulan left to become a soldier she sang a song called “Reflection” about her doubts and how she felt great dishonor to her family. And now she is fighting for China.

I had to force myself to pick this book back up. I'm just...not invested in it. I am going to make a attempt to finish it, though.

Mulan is as strong and nuanced as ever.

As Shang and Mulan hear thumping with loud roar they discover hundreds of millions of demons are coming after them. With their one getaway chance is to go through the hill of knifes while Shang’s sacred lion sacrifices his life to hold off the demons and to give them more time.
The sacred lion was loyal due to his actions of saving his master’s son and sacrificing his own life to hold off the demons.

Keeps the characters on point

I am liking this so far. I am really hoping this book will pull me out of my reading slump, because it has been going on for way too long! And I love Mulan, one of my favorite Disney movies so I am curious to see how this will go!

On page 89 there is a Lady insiting Shang to drink tea. This tea includes some Shan-Yu tea which wipes peoples memories till there is nothing to remember which is part of the challenges they have to go through to repair Shang’s body.
Some of the thoughtful questions I was confused about washow long would it take for the emperor of the under world to fing out it is Mulan? And how would she get out of the underworld.

On page 52 Mulan is going to the underworld to save Shang who will be recreated back to life as a different person. Mulan has to save Shang or she will become dead to with the lie that she still holds of being a women.

In the setting they are in shang-yu where it is a dark and scary setting with many obstacles that can kill mortals putting Mulan’s life on the line.

the protagonist is Mulan who is brave and is a risk taker. the antagonist is Shan-Yu who is the leader of the hun army and just stabbed shang somewhere in the stomach.

wager on. Mulan has until sunrise to find Shang and leave Diyu or be trapped forever while Shang gets reincarnated.

The writing feels kinda flimsy but I'm enjoying this so far ^`^

"I can't read multiple books at once" Well, past Vendi, maybe "shouldn't" is the word that would better fit that sentence but we're here now and you're gonna have to live with it.
This is also really hecking nostalgic and I wanna rewatch Mulan and every other disney movie ever so like? Good job Liz Lim/Disney

96 pages to go along with 7 chapters to go before I hit the “I’ve finished this book!” button.

I was not emotionally or mentally prepared for this book! Shang...realizes he is dying and is doing that 'promise me this' 'I was honored to protect you' and I cannot handle it!

This book opens up with the battle scene in the Tung-shao Pass and escalates very quickly.

Shang is injured and slowly getting worse and Mulan (as Ping) is desperately trying to keep him alive and ensure he makes it to the Crown City.

Elizabeth Lim has a great ability to draw you into the narrative and has a very smooth style.

Making some progress, will try to get more done later since it’s National Read A Book Day.

Just when they get close to exiting Diyu, Yama’s minions have to screw with Mulan, ugh!!!!

Shang came to his senses thank god!!!! Mulan needed help.

Meng Po is an evil bitch!!!

Hallucination time for Mulan!!!

Was Mulan stupid enough to drink the tea Meng Po gave her the second time around in Diyu? I hope not.
