THIS BOOK IS SO CRAZY

9/10 - each storyline się rozkręca and the general is becoming more clear.

Finally understanding the timelines between the characters although some are a bit unclear in relation to other characters.

There’s no knowing how, or even if, the bloodshed will ever end. Only that both sides will battle for justice, killing each other in the name of those freshly killed, honoring the men who died avenging those who, before them, died avenging.

This book is a little difficult to get into for me; so far it is establishing about four main characters and they’re relation to one another (for some there isn’t one). But it is rich with cultural life in the Middle East and I’m enjoying seeing life through their eyes. Looking forward to seeing the main plot unfold.

This has been such a twisty, turvy interesting ride! I am really glad The StoryGraph suggested I read this book!

the transition from joshua to z in narration finally gave me what so many other books could not

Feel sort of weird at the Farid parts, bcos im pretty sure its written by an american & feels too white savior to enjoy it but the Israeli side, espec the guard is so good in its criticisms, & i can def relate to it as an american & a jew eligible for israeli citizenship. Can't help connect Ruthi & her son the guard w other stories of American politics (b&aulieus but also historical anti-war movements & anti-terrori)

So I'm quiting this book before finishing. Only went 50 pages deep and it's not bad but it's not my style and I didn't read for a week cause I didn't want to continue this one. So sorry, but u out a here!

it's good. I like Englander's style. His wordplay at times reminds me of Deborah Levy

Feeling more comfortable with plot as I get a better handle on the characters. As it turns out I don't need to have this read until mid September.
