First impression is arrogance rather than super intelligence.
Procedure, behaviour and attitudes feel extremely wrong at every turn.

'Packed his bags and didn't look back' given age then and now, plus the fact he's an acclaimed forensic psychologist - it's a picturesque way of saying he left for university and didn't return that suggests homelessness.

About 25% in and I was enjoying this, then the author uses the spurned love interest using physical violence / restraint in an argument as the start of a sexual situation and them humiliation to walk away. Wondering if it is worth continuing to read with those kind of tropes or if I should just DNF now?

I don't think I like this MC.
He has two failed marriages with two women because he cheated on them with guys.
I'm sure he has some trauma in his past that has made him like that but, seriously, get over yourself, jerk. You're thirty, you live in London, if you want to have sex with guys just have it, there's no reason for you to play at being heterosexual in the meantime and hurt other people in the process.

A few ‘isms’ and spelling mistakes but nothing too off putting. Looking forward to the next book.

So far I don't like the MC and his big 'tell it all' scene was rather glossed over
