Beginning of last book. This final portion wasn't written by Caesar and was completed by his friend following his assassination.

Iterum hunc legere conor GPT adiuvando. suspicor me minime totum perlecturum, sed magis quam ante nunc delectat, praesertim proper pincturas a GPT factas quae paucitatem imaginationis meam meliorant.

Read 3 more accounts of Caesar's expeditions in Gaul and Brittania. I learned that strategy depends on preparedness, quality of information courage and a little bit of fortune. The number of times the battles seemed to be against the Romans but Caesar always prevailed in the end. When landing in Britain due to storms and low supplies, Caesar's men were cornered but his foresight helped them prevail and thrive.

I missed reading books like this! Handling a personal slump in productivity by picking up Caesar's strategic conquest of Gaul.
War, diplomacy and personal courage all feature in this inspiring book. Ave Caesar!

I mean, it's nice to hear history directly from those who were involved, but it also means that you are at the mercy of that person's point of view, you often don't know what really happened, what is exaggerated and what is pure propaganda.

Ended up only reading up to page 154 because the professor assigned way too much homework, and none of the students were able to finish this book. So he reassigned the reading to this page number. The last book I read was Book VI.

Northern German Gauls were seen as more wild and volatile. Said to have not yet settled farming and sustained agriculture and were wild peoples. Caesar “didnt intend” to take gaul originally but was driven to do so by the German need to be pacified by the 57BC campaign season.
