Really enjoying this. There have been several instances where she has pointed out something in scripture that I never noticed before. Ex. 1 Kings 1:6 noting that King David “had never rebuked” his son Adonijah or disciplined him to think about his actions. The result was a young man who felt so entitled to what he wanted that he decided to crown himself king regardless of his fathers plans.

Just finished chapter 13 on sex, lies, and motherhood. Probably my favorite chapter so far. Teen boys?!? It’s not easy folks. I needed this chapter.

“It’s no wonder the enemy is working overtime to discourage and deplete moms. Think of it this way: a mom who is too tired to pray and read her Bible is no real threat to the devil.”

“..., we become what we purpose to become- what we’re intentional about becoming. I call this kind of purposeful living holy. Holy means “set apart”. When we set ourselves apart front the rest of the world and raise our children in a way that brings honor and glory Tobago’s, that’s what will be required of us:holy intention. An intention that is set apart from the ordinary view of motherhood.”

So good so far, I enjoy reading her life too. It keeps it interesting and engaging. How she ties it to the Bible and following Christ is awesome.

Not going to finish. I was intrigued by the beginning of the book where she analyzes a biblical example of parenthood to see what we can learn, but then the book quickly devolves into a close-minded religious perspective focused on obedience and moves away from Biblical examples. I was hoping for thoughts on actually nurturing the minds and spiritual lives of children, but I don't think this book will do that.

"Make no mistake: in the midst of homework assignments, chores, and the seemingly mundane conversations you have everyday with your children, you are preparing warriors...warriors who at some point will be asked to choose between following God's law and following the culture. And in order to prepare warriors, you have to become a warrior yourself." ❤️

This book kicks you in the pants right away! What an awesome and important message about the culture and our identity as moms with Christ. And the end of each chapter has a great little review and prayer suggestions with scripture. Gotta love a book rooted entirely in the Word of God!
