I didn't like the first book, so of course I'm giving the sequel a chance anyway. (Grabs popcorn)

So far, I hated the fact that there was a significant time skip during which the heroine whom I liked in the first book spent her time WALLOWING IN AN OCEAN OF SELF-PITY.

Note to self: deconstructing side characters from former books by stripping away their self-respect and confidence? Not sexy.
