So, Leo celebrates her for her uniqueness, yet he stays inside? That’s not how it works, buddy.

“I have never been so happy and so proud in my life” (Spinelli 140).
More like “I have never been so disappointed and surprised in my life.”
You can’t just tell someone “be like this” when that’s not who they are. That’s not how life works. Ughhhh.

DUDE. WHAT THE HECK. NOW YOU’RE EMBARRASSED? WOW. JUST WOW. AFTER ALL YOU AND CINNAMON (and Stargirl) WENT THROUGH, YOU AVOID THEM BECAUSE YOU CARE ABOUT WHAT OTHERS THINK OF YOU.

“Did you ever see a little kid’s face when he spots a penny on a sidewalk?”
I’m keeping an eye out now. But it feels nice and lucky when you find one, I can tell you that.

Stargirl just cares when no one else does. She cares when no one else thinks to. She cares without others asking her too.
I wish more people thought like that.

I’m correcting my initial impression of Stargirl. She is similar to Lucy Gray, no doubt, but she shows less sass and more kindness. She doesn’t care what others think, and she only wants to help others. She’s brighter, and she sees the best in people who don’t even care to notice her.

Honestly, I think Leo and Stargirl are really cute together. My favorite character is obviously Cinnamon (sorry Stargirl). Of course, I’m going to get to the part of the book where the protagonist learns a lesson about life from another character, but I’m liking where the story’s at so far, thank you very much.

And here it is — the inevitable judgement of her peers. It happens every time. Whether it’s because they’re scared of uniqueness, or jealous, or they feel threatened, they’re reacting this way. And I hate that it happens in real life.

Stargirl—still awesome.
“Her bad things did not stick to her. Our bad things stuck very much to her. If we were hurt, if we were unhappy, or otherwise victimized by life, she seemed to know about it, and care, as soon as we did” (Spinelli 52)
This is the kind of person I’d want to be friends with. The kind of person people should try to be.

I already like Archie. He seems like the kind of guy everyone wants to know.

Stargirl reminds me of Lucy Gray Baird. That’s my first thought about this girl. She’s not afraid to be unique, and others notice her for that.
“She had no friends, yet she was the friendliest person in school” (Spinelli 15).
I think that’s better than having the most friends but being the meanest.
