This is great! I feel like I'm back in the early days of the series, with Gastner suffering from insomnia and spending his nights driving around in "310" on the roads of Posadas County.

Steven Havill has done it again. This book is the 22nd book in his series of The Posadas County Mysteries. In this book, Steve writes the story of when Robert Torrez became part of the Posadas County sheriff's crew. And the nightmare that happened to him on his first day as a deputy. Bill Gastner is there in all his glory, as the under sheriff. He happens to be one of my favorite characters.

The characters of Posadas are like print family for me. Been involved with them for a long time. Usually prefer them to Harry Bosch and his world. Had to stop reading by page 9. Emotionally hammered. May need more breaks to get past the introductory pages ... expecting five stars already.
