Beast's monologue is really pulling at the heart strings. Marriage for love didn't really exist in the 1700s, especially not for royalty and the upper class, but this is so sweet.
I can definitely see why Disney changed things, but the changes all seem to pull into this monologue. I don't feel the rules of the spell within the book would've translated well on screen.

I know this is a book from the 1700s so women being strong and fearless was a big thing, but reading this in modern day is very jarring.

This book was definitely a product of its time, and yet it is still a beautiful story so far. I wish the OG original was easier to find, as this is the translation of the second writing of Beauty and the Beast.
