Status Updates From Crossover (Orca Sports)

My book Crossover fits with the tile because my main character is kind of in a "crossover" between the school play and his basketball since he is doing it at the same time.

I just started this book so i'm just going to do the last book I read which was Jacks Run. I think the most unlikable character is Alonzo because he's the bad guy and he's really mean and bossy.

Rud, a sportswriter, nails the sports scenes, but some of the other wording made me cringe, such as, “And although we didn’t talk any more about it, I somehow felt that most of us had grown up a little bit.” I found the students’ homophobia far-fetched. There was recently a character in The Boxer and the Spy by Parker about whom students kept saying that they assumed he was gay, but no one cared. Much more realistic.

Calling on their old friendship, Lukas convinces Kyle to try out for the school musical, and Kyle lands one of the leading roles.
