The pride feels _translated_, which is an injustice to the text.

An incredible, audacious novel. A satire centred on the premise: what is literary and linguistic theory did actually have an effect in the real world??!! Frequently laugh out loud funny as it skewers the pretensions of 70s French poststructuralism and simultaneously illustrates theories in action through the narrative. And is the ending a direct reference to Under the Volcano (which is directly referred to earlier)?

Okay I need to study now, but wowwww this is another 5 star Binet novel. Sadly his other novels are supposed to be boring historical fiction. HHhH was one of my favs last year.

A period wunza that pairs a 1980 French police detective and a semiotician to investigate the murder (?) of Roland Barthes. Either that sounds like a hoot to you, or the most pretentious nonsense you’ve ever heard.

البته رمان پلیسی لفظ دقیقا صحیحی برای این کتاب نیست.
این رمان بیشتر از اینکه پلیسی باشد، فلسفی است.

I DNF this book - very strange but I could have withstood that. It was vulgar & terrible language.

Part V Epilogue was interesting. I take it as an indirect homage to Foucault's Pendulum which is very cool.
Liked the book, this was entertaining.

Very filmy. It's entertaining. Brainy thriller I guess.

Part Three: Loses the plot a bit for me, gets way in over its head. It's still a fun read but it's gone from "wow this could be brilliant" to more "neat idea, got some things to look up" the way Dan Brown's books do for me. It's a good read but the author took much on and not sure it is all being utilised well.

Part Two. Pretty interesting. Hints of The Da Vinci Code, The Name of thecRose, these kind of books - the possibility of a conspiracy around a mysterious missing manuscript that may or may not exist. Umberto Eco's appearance was very nice.

Completed Part 1. Great premise, narrative momentum is spot on, good writing. I am slightly concerned that the author is bringing in too many narrative threads but very intriguing so far.
