Status Updates From The Beatitudes of Peace: Me...

I appreciate Fr. Dear's insight into the beatitude "Blessed are those who mourn, for they will be comforted." He points out that if we are seeking peace and concerned for our brothers and sisters (all humans) throughout the world, we will inevitably experience grief over the violence, poverty, and injustice across the globe. He frames this grief in the context of blessing - we must mourn, and God will comfort us all.

Our church is hosting this author next week for his book tour touting his latest volume, so I am attempting to read this as well in preparation. As a pacifist and advocate of "creative nonviolence," Fr. John Dear asserts that we should and must follow Jesus' path of peacemaking.
