October is scary book month. The greatest scary book is of course Mary Shelly’s Frankenstein but the Hardcore Literature Book Club is reading Dr. Jekyll an Mr Hyde this week I guess because it is so short (78 pages). After that book will be Jane Austen’s Emma and then a Dickens book to finish the year. Which Dickens book will be announced next week or the week after.

The Strange Case of Dr. Jekyll & Mr Hyde uitgelezen! Erg leuk om een keer het oorspronkelijke verhaal te lezen. Vooral het laatste hoofdstuk was erg goed!

As by the title you can tell that this is a compilation of Robert Louis Stevenson's stories. And thus far the stories have been presented in fairly comprehensible all-be-it olden English. But now, with this story "Thrawn Janet", which I like to call with Forest Gump-esque accent " Thrawn Jenny". It's written in what I can only describe as phonetic heavily accented Scottish. My poor brain! The vowels don't match!

Omg! This book has the absolute longest introduction that I have ever read. 22 pages! I'm not even sure why it didn't really make much sense to me. Luckily I then read 2 chapters and I'm now about to start chapter 3.

The second story, the body snatcher is done, it's crazy to learn that he was inspired by two people who used to illegally smuggle dead bodies.

I just finished the first story of the short one in this edition, the one with the same name as the title of the book, and it is really interesting how little people back then knew about medicine.

liked 2 out of the 3 stroies I've read so far in this collection but eh Stevenson's writing style just isn't for me.

It’s been too long since I’ve read a classic and I loved it so I’m going to read another
