Status Updates From Jane, Unlimited

okay so this was better and I was starting to enjoy it & feel invested but the last chapter/universe I read (the one about someone losing a soul) was just so weird and now i'm on the "jane unlimited" chapter & it's confusing and just... yeah, not feeling. :(

This book is kind of a parallel life book when you really think about it. Life changes when Jane makes a different choice.

This book is a lot of mental work and completely different from any of Cashore’s previous novels, but I am liking it quite a bit.

I love this! I honestly have no idea how this is gonna turn out but I'm really impressed so far!

"The world is your rainstorm." How lovely.

Its interesting the way some authors can lure you in from the first page. For me, one such is Kristin Cashore (Who I will be seeing on Tuesday!). I've been struggling with 'Zodiac' 69 pages in and it's not compelling me to drop everything. 21 pages in here, and this might be what I spend the rest of the day doing.

I've decided it's actually night circus except all the magic and surprises are decidedly unwelcome in this house.

This book is so weird

Okay this is so much better. I’m enjoying it and all the pieces coming together. I think I’ve gotten used to the narrative voice and now I’m invested in what is happening.

I am loving this. (Also, for anyone unaware, Jane doesn't have a label but does talk about men and women romantically.) But I'm going to put it down for a bit before reading the last three sections because I've heard they're a bit different.

Yesss, this is biased but EVERYTHING ABOUT THIS IS SO EXCITING, I CAN BARELY COPE WITH IT! Let's hope the positive feelings continue 🙏🏻

I feel like this should be a choose your own adventure book at this point. Let us choose which way to go first.

This is getting better. At least the first "story arc" was interesting. I still don't like the writing style.

Very unimpressed. Going into this book, I knew that it was said to be very different to Cashore's other works. Different doesn't have to mean bad, but in this case it doesn't seem to work for me.

this isn't what I was expecting from a Cashore novel at all. I hope it gets better. It's pretty boring and that dialogue... I feel like I'm reading middle grade, but the ages aren't adding up.

I have no idea wtf that section was all about.

Well, I've started the first "decision" option... and I'm still not impressed.

I have a feeling that as soon as someone mentions multi verses a multiverse appears

Ok, very glad I read nothing about this book before starting it... this is unexpected and unpredictable and fantastic.

This is so good, but it’s taking me forever to get through it.

I'm not sure how I feel about this... nothing seems to be happening and my eyes keep glazing over because the conversations (and narration style?) are boring...

Oooh, onwards to a new choice. I’m curious to see how this all ends.

Cashore totally hyped this book up for me! I'm getting close to the first story and I'm so excited. I can't wait to see the clues and the character development and just what happens in it! I can see how this once was a choose-you-own-path story.

This extraordinary question fixes Jane in place. She’s felt exactly that way, ever since Aunt Magnolia died and the wrong version of Jane’s life wrapped its arms tight around her, dove into the water, dragged her to the bottom, and held her there while she drowned.
