It's rushed, that's why everything feels so wrong about this. In order to pull off this five different decisions and five different stories thing, Cashore has rushed her sections. The conclusions are getting pushed far above the build up or the foreshadowing. It's too much telling at points, not with little show necessarily, but with little foundation for the showing to happen.

WAIT wait wait wait. We skipped backwards! We skipped backwards?

I knew this book would involve, like, alternate dimensional tellings, but—what? What??

(all the same, really enjoying this again now that I’ve gotten used to all the characters!)

My current audiobook! Had no idea this had such poor reviews till I went to add it; really enjoying so far!! The reviews are poor due to polarity rather than mediocrity, it looks like? So maybe I'll be one of those who loves it. Hopefully!

Also! I am now beginning my summer of a 2-hour transit to "work" (unpaid internship)! More reading in my future, I hope :)

what just happened?!

First there was bullshit xenophobia in the story. Now there's bullshit ableist dialogue against mental health issues. Really won'y br passing this one around for RA.

Finally! I'm into this story. It took until about a quarter of the way for that to happen. It's definitely a book like no other. I think we have alternate universes. Very Sliding Doors at the moment.

I'm just about to give up. 100 pages in, no idea what the book is about, except something to do with art. A bunch of characters whom I yet know anything about, or how they work into the story. Frustrating and uninteresting to this point, hoping it gets better soon or it's onto my "Abandoned" list.

Huh, this is weird. Like, really weird. It's puzzling in a way as if I'm in the beginning of finishing a 1000-piece puzzle with no clue where to start,

I'm not a fan of the second timeline. The genre is spy thriller and everything happens so fast that I just didn't get any thrill reading it. Let's hope the third part is better.

I am truly enjoying this. The premise sounds really weird and out there but so unique. Essentially, this girl is invited to her old friend's majestic mansion. Things are weird there, and somehow we're following 5 different path that she can take, like a choose-your-own-adventure books, but with different genres. So weird but so good so far

The idea is interesting, but the execution is killing me. :(

She acts far too familiar with people she's only met a day ago. It does look like something is about to happen now, as far as the format of the book goes, but I think the period it took to get here might be this book's undoing.

I had no expectations for this and I am delighted

Maybe I'm just understanding the "brilliance" of the book. But to be honest it feels convoluted at best. From what I gather it is supposed to imply multiple alternate universes but it just comes off as a frustrating mash of things. And none of those things are very good on their own and definitely not together.

It's really messy.

:/ just too much "rich" description. Get on with the story. I get it. The house is big and has lots of stuff. Move on.
