Looking back on how the Church treated people, I wonder what will be said, hundreds of years from now, about the way the Church in our time, treats people?

Amir is the more likable of the two characters. i am glad that the narrative has switched to his point of view. Ramon is too caught up in trying to fit in, he denies his past. Amir is proud of who he is, no matter what it gets him.

The conflict between the Church, its Inquisition, and the people is painful to read about.

What is the secret the Amir shares with Ramon's father? What are they hiding to keep him safe?

Anger. The situation described is hundreds of years old, and yet the anger is still there. Anger that people can be so cruel and narrow minded. Anger that a faith that professes love acts with such hatred. Anger.

I guess that means the writing is good.
