Pursuing a higher level of education to offset so much else that set her back feeds into Magona's ambition, as she achieves, her self belief grows, she pushes herself further, while in the role of both parents. Moving into adminstration she witnesses how racist policies affect families, then joining SACHED (Sth African committee for higher education) widened her circle of contact, connection, perspective & confidence

Alone with three children, Sindiwe changes her perspective on her husband's abandonment of them and decides he has done her a favour leaving them at such a young age. For she has time to build herself up, to develop independence, invest in her resourcefulness and keep herself busy. No govt no man will help her and nor will she ever put herself in a position where her happiness or her life would depend upon a man.

So men have always believed their respect lies in their earnings & not how they treat the women in their lives? How then, can there ever be hope that they treat women with respect? Clearly money & worldly possessions are what they procure respect from women with. & those women, who take this as currency for the respect they are evidently selling. I wish they would reconsider. For the sake of all women & future women.
