In the world of art the only paradigm that has existed until now is figurative art, whose symbol system has been in use for tens of thousands of years regardless of place and time. Modernism broke up this symbol system into its perceptual components but created no alternative symbol system nor any other means that could generate a new paradigm, and for this reason art has had no paradigm for a hundred years.
