Status Updates From Poppy

I had been expecting a simple family story, but the writing is incredible: "I ask for evidence but yet when I get its am more interested in the silent, forgotten stories, in the everyday, the ordinary, the unsystematic and unrecorded, the omissions and the slip-pages, the ways of living that affected us quietly, their meanings and accruing over the years, not exposed in a single, masculine climax.<\i>

Would you believe I found this book on the side of the road one evening? I picked it up for two reasons: - I read and adored 'Stravinsky's lunch' years ago - the author was speaking on the radio a couple of days earlier about her latest memoir Just wish I didn't have so much on right now so I could just settle down with this one
