“No. Ava. This should be easy. This is where happy endings go in stories like these.”
“Except we’re not people that stories happen to,” she says. “We’re the storytellers.”

“You really love her, huh,” says Ava.
“She saved my life.”
“Maybe you saved your own life, and she was just the soundtrack.”

“Well, fuck,” says Abel.
“I’m sorry.”

It's been a long time and I only remember the broad strokes of the characters, but I'm finishing this book dammit. Considering that I started it in 2019, this is a long time coming.

For the most part I love the idea of letting out your bitterness, but there have been a few power imbalances I’m not a fan of

We're chugging along, and the two MCs finally have time to interact with each other and (almost assuredly) develop a romantic bond. It's been a minute since I've read from this one, but I'm still curious where it will go.

P: Nice to see A&B's relationship develop over time, sometimes an easy read is nice (e.g. when the realities of daily life are not reflected / glossed over in a story).
C: References to proper nouns can be mildly annoying since they don't have a "real world," equivalent, there's a few obvious references to the author's previous book (which didn't resonate with me since I haven't read it).

Pro: it's cute, representation matters, the author's version of "American Idol," type shows is interesting (though I it may not actually make good TV), intersectionality is considered
Con: I just breeze over the poetry and lyrics; a lot of the time I think they are too cheesy, the plot is a bit too "nice," (i.e. the POV character winds up bumping into someone who has the will and know-how to help her)
