Status Updates From Viscera

I hate the way paragraphs are formatted in this book but otherwise I’m having a lot of fun

I’ve been in a book rut, really struggling to commit to reading anything. This is finally something weird enough to hook me in. Make reading preposterous again

Also looking into the author she’s also some flavor of lgbt, so it could be worse, but the way the trans man character is written gives me the ick. There’s this huge focus on his chest dysphoria…like it’s the only thing that’s brought up and it’s brought up excessively. Him being disemboweled and recreated is a whole plot point at that point why didn’t you just give him fantasy top surgery? Like dude.

I feel like I’m reading faster to just get it over with. There is enough interesting stuff that I just want to know how it finishes, but it just feels like a gorey fever dream.

I should have DNF’d after the first chapter; I’m too invested now, but in a distinctly meh way.

This book feels like it's written in another language. Like I'm only catching every third word. I don't know what the heck is happening or why we're listening to a burlap puppet full of guts

this book is so grimdark that it's not even scary or gross it's just banal
