I almost DNF but wanted to see what happened with her life. The writing style was terrible, I can’t believe writing is her career!

Was looking for a memoir that scratched the same itch as Julia Fox’s down the drain, and this did it 10000%

She amount of times she wails/screams/shreiks has me on edge. It’s so irritatingly performed. I can’t believe I’m only half way through this audiobook.

Re-reading my favorite memoir of all time because I’m a Cat Marnell fan forever ever 🫶

Hard to not be entertained by an NYC party girl fashion memoir especially as a magazine obsessed teen during Marnell’s exact era at Condé Nast.

As far as the non-writer-with-a-good-story’s genre goes, not nearly as fun as Julia Fox’s Down the Drain but still a gas to throw on audio while you clean the house.

i’m genuinely having so much listening to this book. Its so scary, fun, sad, funny, etc. It feels like i’m running around new york holding on by thread with her <3

the high school chapters are rough. Talking about dissociating during sex (you're not supposed to do that - call a therapist) and repeatedly referring to her abortion as murder make me want to fast forward or DNF

I apologize in advance for what I am about to describe.
Imagine a jellyfish as big as an ashtray. Now turn that jellyfish dark bloodred and multiply it by a few hundred. Now imagine pulling down your Sergio Valente jeans and seeing hundreds of ashtray-size bloodred jellyfish pouring out of you. That's what happened to me.

This is simultaneously the most wildly uncomfortable, unhinged and one of the best books I’ve ever read

This is my second read through of HTMYL. Cat’s voice comes through beautifully and she’s able to paint a picture of her life and addiction in so many colors.
