There were many tedious redundant passages and the misogyny was horrifying. There story within a story within a story framework is still evident, but a bit more confusing here than volume one. The main story about King Omar and his children was fairly convoluted before adding in the side stories.

Wow. The King Omar story is really, really long! Parts are tedious but most is just twisty. Rape. Murder. Incest. Mistaken Identity. Revenge. It's all in there.

The princess Abrizah is a fabulous character, but her fate, and the cavalier way in which her rape and murder is treated, is truly monstrous.
