u know what i finally understand what makes me so agitated when reading this (and some of austen’s books): FREE INDIRECT DISCOURSE. this narrator in particular….one moment he’s so sarcastic the next dead serious and im so confounded by margaret’s blind self assurance because there are brilliant moments of clarity in the narration….ugh

margaret girl don’t piss me off….for someone who prizes open mindedness and nuance u sure think in binary sometimes…and no u can’t fix him so stop with ur savior complex….men aren’t projects….especially men like henry….im rage reading this book now ngl….like im sure the schlegels gonna face their consequences but im still ANNOYED

okay the schlegels are grating on me….whatever they are doing out of good will just keep perpetuating their privileged ignorance….i hOpe they face consequences soon….
