Fun tangent recently about how oral sex is actually a symptom of cultural decline. Josh presciently pointed out that maybe Lasch’s wife doesn’t give head. Sucking hog at all, and especially spit/swallow, is quite culturally relative I have found, but not in the way Lasch is on about. I do not have any data points on that.

the book starts comparing peoples desires and the erosion of patriarchal authority to freuds psychoanalytic theory. i dont know how to feel about this section of the book, though otherwise the introduction feels very relatable and insightful
