In everything I see, the meaning's plain,
compelling me to love you, never leave you.
What isn't you is wrong for me, does harm.
Love, that all other wonders counts as vain,
tells me, for my soul's sake, I have to have you,
you, my sole sun, and thereby quite disarms
my other hopes, all objects of desire;
would have me live, afire
for you, or any like you, eyes the same,
eyelashes fine, and curling almost so.

Sweeter your face than grapes are, stewed to mush;
looks like a snail had slicked it, to and fro,
the way it shines. Like radishes a-blush,
your cheeks. Teeth, sweet corn buttered, row with row.
On you the Pope could get a heavy crush!
Your eyes! They're brown horse liniment aglow.
Hair pale as frizzy onions in their bin.
Oh love me, love! Or else you do me in!
