Status Updates From The Gold Bug Variations

Unlike his others, this story gets bogged down with far too much science, history and period toggling causing drowsiness among other things. Time call it quits. Nice try Richard but this one doesn't cut it

Never did I fathom that reading a novel could provide a grad school education, one that bridges romance, genetics and music. This book requires concentration much as college texts do, but it's far more entertaining!

Slow going due to Powers intellect, encyclopedic knowledge and use of terms that expand the reader in ways never imagined! Strange that romance is at its core!

Powers ceases to amaze. Written in 91, four years previous to Galatea, someone unfamiliar with him would never guess they were from the same author. I can't help but think he has a PhD due to remarkable command of language, science, literature and genetics.. And the list does not end there.

Epic, yet another story from the encyclopedic mind of Powers, though like his others shows nothing in common. And it's for this reason he's become a favorite. That said, this takes concentration, and that's a good thing!
