This is an impressive recounting of events from the perspectives of US Navy flag officers, enlisted sailors, consulates, embassy workers, diplomats of both Japan and the United States, Japanese naval officers of all levels, civilians, spies, the president himself, and the media. It was an incredibly interesting book that captured my attention from the outset by introducing this historical event from different angles.
