This novel has some good images--particularly at the beginning--but is proving a chore and I only have about 20 pages left. It seems possible that the translation is to blame or I just don't care that the main character--who is something of a rapo himself (yeah I've just been reading James Ellroy)-- keeps getting raped sometimes by minorities, sometimes by dogs.

Love the physically impossible dog fucking scenes - man slung under dog, dog dick in man mouth man dick in dog mouth - as dog runs over rocky land, for one, but the philosophical parts mostly elude me so far.
