This scene is so nauseating I’m not sure I can read it

The way Neal Shusterman builds suspense is so incredible because I’ve literally read this book before and remember a good amount and I am still on the edge of my seat

this book is interesting because it's dystopian in a society where a pro-life vs pro-choice civil war has led to the Worst Case Scenario for literally everyone, but it doesn't seem to take a stance at first. you're just left to sit with complex & messy feelings about what gives a meaning to life and what it means to be whole. as a story, it's SO good, but i'm still not sure what message it's projecting yet!!

“And everyone was selecting their leaders not by their ability to lead, but by where they stood on this single issue.” 🥲 sounds familiar
