Still not as in love with it as I thought I would be...

I'm beginning to feel this book should have been renamed The PLAYS and Times of Shakespeare. Quotes galore! Parts of it are definitely overly long.

Engaging for the Bard-thirsty historian and those interested also in some drama history, but reads at times more like a thesis of Shakespeare's work overall. Started off well, with lots of background previously unknown and keeps a good pace as well as providing good reference, but we have spoken little about his actual life since we got onto the plays.
