I hate to be all about the bitchy gender critiques, but the "she-knight" is getting on my last nerve! Granted, said "she-knight" appears to be one of the heroes (maybe anti-heros), but it's perfectly obvious she's female, so why does she have to be constantly called a she-knight, instead of just a knight? It's unnecessary from a gender perspective, a writing perspective and it's just plain repetitive to read.

7 pages in and already on the second female attacked, with rape inferred. The first was off-page and I'm hoping this one will be interupted, but when women are so frequently and dismissively victimized I always wonder if it even occurred to the author that men can be too or if it's just the women are victims men are heroes trope kicking in already. Not an auspicious start. But it's early yet.
