There's no way to say anything without spoiling it, but tell me you don't have shivers when you finish chapter 23. Wow.

The racial tension between white cops and black residents of Harlem, along with the casual injustice this tension enables the police to propagate, is something you don't usually read (can't imagine why that is /s).

The story breathes with the reality of this injustice.

The way Burke weaves in the supernatural is subtle enough to leave the reader wondering if it is really there or if it is just a hallucination or overactive imagination.

I'm loving the story so far. Great look at 20's Harlem, and I'm very interested to see how the disparate threads tie together.
