As our own country is in its own crisis, this book is both fear-inducing and utterly terrifying. I’ve been on a Russian lit kick of the classics, and now history. I’m in awe of the strength of the Russian people as well as ever shocked at differences in perception and experience of individual citizens.

The only reason this is taking me so long is because of how truly haunting it is. Fantastic piece of non-fiction.
