this couldn’t have been more of a timely read. Went on a walk and listened to this and ran into hundreds of Monarch butterflies. I couldn’t help but think the Lord is with me in this solitude. His presence is so near even when it does not feel like it.
It just felt like the Lord empathizing solitude. 🧡

“Hospitality means primarily the creation of a space where a stranger can enter and become a friend instead of an enemy. It is not an attempt to change people, but to offer the free space where change can take place…. The paradox of hospitality is that it wants to create emptiness—not a fearful emptiness, but a friendly emptiness, where strangers can enter and discover themselves as created free.”

“When I look at you, it is as if I am in the presence of Christ.”
“It is the Christ in you who recognizes the Christ in me.”
“Yes, He indeed is in our midst.”
And then he spoke the most healing words I had heard in many years: “From now on, wherever you go, or wherever I go, all the ground between us will be holy ground.”
And when he left, I knew he had revealed to me what community really means.
