i don’t like reading books from women’s pov written by a man if that makes sense. like it just feels a little strange. but i do love reading books set in appalachia and i love reading silas house so let’s give it a shot

This is part of a stand alone series. I read the book in order but wished I would have read them closer together. I had a hard time remembering the characters.

I have reached a stalemate here. I will finish it. But at this point my book got wet and moldy. Leaving this one up to fate.

The sadness I feel while reading this is different than other books. It feels like a bone deep ache. I love it!

I almost forgot what proper prose was until I started this book!

just feels like the thing to read when you’re sad and anxious about your sister.

I am completing the trilogy by reading the middle book.

Excellent! Wonderful characters.

I'm obsessed with this book. It makes my heart ache for a time when I didn't have to explain or defend part of my heritage. Pop, instead of soda, wasn't laughed at. I could speak lazily without being corrected to sound like an English essay. But mostly, it floods memories of Grandpa- from this place, during this time period. The subtleties of KY hill country that are interwoven in this book sometimes gut punch me.

So far disappointed in this book. I LOVED Parchment of Leaves, but I am not feeling any attachment to these characters.

Enjoying, just haven't had much time to read.

I started this book and put down for e-books and audio-books during travel.I picked it back up today. I can't believe I put this down. I am L-O-V-I-N-G the book.

Once you get passed the "5+" ways to touch a woman's boob, it's an okay book.

Listening to old Hank Williams records while I read sets the perfect mood

I am loving this book, I called it Hick Lit but actually it is very good with enough content that it gets you to thinking.

A little soap opera'ish (one of the main characters goes through five men... or maybe more), but still a really, really good read that addresses important issues and gives those heartstrings a little pull.

"She didn't want to get up and tell him goodbye. If she did, it would be finalized. She knew she would have to at some point, but for now she just lay there and tried to keep him with her as long as she could." :(
