In 1926, the Watchtower convinced its following that all other established Christian religions had been taken over by Satan and that the Jehovah’s’ Witnesses were Gods organization. Around this time, they also took their anti war stance and their followers were not to pledge any allegiances to anything other than to JW.

By 1927, most of the elders of the congregations were replaced by Service Directors from the Watchtower society. these elders were of the “Mordecai-Naomi” class and were resisting the changes being forced on them. Before Judge Rutherford took over leadership in 1920, there were independent groups of Bible Students within Jehovahs Witnesses who used the Bible alone as their means of learning and spiritual growth. With the development of the JW printing presses/book distribution, came the obligation for all JW to follow the Watchtower Society and to follow their published teachings.

The watchtower society pulled 1 Peter 2:9 as their claim to building a new nation under them that would eventually accumulate in a new world society.

The watchtower had a change of leadership after/during world war 1. They convinced people that world religions and especially Christendom were products of Satan/Babylon the Great from Revelation 14. They also somehow were able to reintroduce the concept of “eternal life” from John 11:25-26 as their hope for the shattered World following the War - claiming that if people followed them, they would never die.
