It's such a great book and I've been reading nonstop which doesn't happen to me a lot. I feel blessed finding this in the reviews of The Girls, which I absolutely loved myself. I would defo give it a 5 star after I finish this book

I saw this in my Old-Books-I-Acquired-and-Need-to-Read-Then-Donate pile. The cover made me ask myself, “Why?”

The synopsis: Teen runaway lands in LA where here sister lives and winds up researching the Manson girls for an indie film producer.

really REALLY don’t know how i’m feeling about this so far

Very dull so far and Anna, the main character, is very annoying. Apart from the fact that one can't "become" lesbian just like that because it's not a decision, the author seems to hate vegetarians and feminists and there is lots of slut-shaming going on. Anna wants to "throw up in her mouth" at several normal things other people do. "Anorexic" is used as a slur. The wannabe-plot? Don't get me started...

Hi, I officially hate all of the characters in this book. They’re all horrible people and this book should die a terrible literary death.

Page 95: “I remembered a picture that Doom had said we should figure out how to send but never did, a fake selfie of Paige Parker with rope around her neck and whited out eyeballs, and I wished that someone could have done the same to the so called terrible pictures of Olivia Taylor.”

Page 63, “I just-“ she said again. “I can’t take the risk that having you here might make the cancer worse.”

Anna is my least favorite kind of character. She’s mean, and she thinks the world is so unfair to her. She lives a good life with good parents and repays them by stealing their money and being a complete brat. Hopefully she’ll grow as a person, but these kinds of characters usually don’t.

If you ignore some homophobic and ableist comments which I guess are used as part of Anna's flaws (and she has a lot of flaws, trust me), this book is pretty good so far

Kinda forgot to update about this book. I had to put it down a while ago, but then picked it back up and restarted it because I forgot everything.

So far this book is about a 15 year old girl named Anna is being lazy about her adulthood. She has many things going on like new stepparents, a new sibling, and a new school. She gets sick of this nonsense and runs away to Los Angeles.

Exactly what I was in the mood for.

Anna got a call from Delia, saying she got mugged, she’s in the hospital, and her nose is broken. Anna looked so worried, Jeremy asked if she was ok, and is now driving her to see her sister. cute!

Jeremy and Anna went to Olivia Taylor’s house (Jeremy and olive are siblings) and going her dog still at home after she left for Vegas. I’m glad Jeremy still likes Anna after she made herself out to be a bad person.

Anna just explained why she ran away to Jeremy and includes a part about her bullying a girl in her school because her friend doesn’t like her. This scares away Jeremy, which makes sense but also makes me a little bit sad.

Delia’s soooo oblivious to the creepy things that go on near her house, like people leaving messages on her door, people looking through her windows at night, etc. Anna finally convinced Delia to let her stay at Dex’s house. Jeremy also asked to hang out with Anna, and he held hands with her!

Anna read Delia’s old emails, the ones roger sent to her a long time ago. They were super weird and confusing, just like him! Anna also keeps hearing weird noises at night when she’s alone, and sees cars outside Delia’s house. Honestly it’s kinda creepy.

Anna now has a little crush on one of the actors she’s been hanging out with. Also, I didn’t realize Lynette was that much of a “hippie”. She’s ultra mega against almost everything in society.

I really dislike Olivia Taylor. She’s an entitled used-to-be-famous actor and made Anna use her emergency card for a stupid overpriced bag.
